Wet Mounting on Aluminum Sandwich Panels

I mount fiber-based prints onto a special aluminum sandwich panel, "Hylite" (approx. 1.2 mm thick, alu-PP-alu). The maximum panel size is 150 x 300 cm. These sandwich panels are very lightweight (approx. 1.8 kg/m²), dimensionally stable, temperature-resistant (from -30 to +120 °C) and, unlike museum board, will not warp in the long term due to the effects of humidity.
The still-damp or re-moistened fiber-based paper is mounted onto this sandwich panel using a special solvent-free (water-based) adhesive. The mounting process is reversible (meaning the photograph can be removed again without damage). After drying (approx. 24 hrs, air-dried), this method gives glossy fiber-based paper a very beautiful, non-reflective gloss that emphasizes the shadows. Due to the particular material properties of fiber-based paper, it is not possible to work with millimeter precision when wet mounting (wet/dry expansion factor of up to 5%).
It is also possible to mount fiber-based prints onto fine canvas. Due to the greater amount of work involved, the price is the same as for mounting on aluminum sandwich panels.
Another mounting option is the hot-mounting process with "RagMount" onto various substrates up to a size of 90/120 cm. The price depends on the substrate used.
For hot mounting onto solid aluminum panels (up to 3 mm) with a sawn edge for frameless hanging, please request a separate quote.
When mounting/laminating prints supplied by the client, I cannot accept liability for damage to the enlargements. This does not mean that the work is not carried out with the greatest care.
On the pricing of mounting work: the basic labor involved is factored in (even for a 24/30 cm print, the adhesive has to be specially prepared, cooked and filtered), which is why small formats are relatively expensive. For various medium and large formats, the offcut waste of the panels accounts for a large part of the pricing. In addition, I only work with the best materials, which come at a price.
On request, I can also deliver the picture fully framed.
